Description
Raptors – large birds of prey – will swoop into Walker Tavern Historic Site near Brooklyn, Michigan on Sunday, June 4, from 10 a.m. to noon. Returning for a fourth season, this popular program is sponsored by the Friends of Walker Tavern.
“This is a rare opportunity for the public to see some of these great birds of prey up close,” said site historian Laurie Perkins. “Visitors just love this program and come back every year, just like the birds, bringing more friends to marvel at the experience with them.”
Because of the nature of the program, the birds are displayed for a limited time. After the program, visitors are welcomed to enjoy touring both the farmers market and the historic Walker Tavern.
Raptor Day is just one of the events on Farmers Market Sundays sponsored by the Friends of Walker Tavern. Others in the 2017 season include:
- Vintage “base ball” games, June 25 and Aug. 27
- Walker On Wheels car show, Aug. 6
- Lost arts demonstrations, Aug. 20
- Eagle Day, Sept. 17
