DESCRIPTION:An inaugural 5K run/walk has been announced for May 5 at Manitou Beach\,\n\nThe Manitou Beach Cinco de Mayo 5K run/walk and kids' 1-mile fun run will take place at 9 a.m. in the Manitou Beach village district\, according to a news release. The event will start in the 130 block of Devils Lake Highway.\n\nRegistration will start at 8:45 a.m.\, with the run to start at 9 a.m.\, the walk at 9:03 and the kids' 1-mile at 9:45 a.m. Awards will be given starting at 10 a.m.\n\nProceeds from the event will benefit the Addison Community Schools girls basketball team and cross country program. The participation fee is $20 before April 20 and $30 from April 21 to the day of the race.\n\nChecks may be made payable to Addison Community Schools and mailed to Shane Morse at 6868 Jerome Road\, Jerome\, MI 49249\, or dropped off at Nutrition Beach\, 140 N. Lakeview Blvd. at Manitou Beach.\n\nRegistration forms are available at Nutrition Beach and may be returned there.\n\nFestive Cinco de Mayo attire is welcomed as part of the event. Awards will be given to various age groups and genders. The route will go south on Devils Lake Highway to Elm Street\, past Jerry's Market and south on Main Street\, then west on Manitou Road to Rollin Highway\, north to Manitou Beach Road\, then east on Manitou Beach Road to the finish line on Devils Lake Highway.
