Description
Feral/Barn Cat Spay-Neuter Event: April 16th!
We are so excited to host another spay/neuter clinic in an effort to help reduce the number of feral cats in our community.
**Scheduling is only open to Established Clients (This means we see your pets for routine care, not just Feral Cat Day). If space allows, we will open the event to the public for scheduling in two weeks.
Trap-Neuter-Return is successfully practiced in thousands of communities. With Trap-Neuter-Return, cats are humanely trapped and taken to a veterinarian to be neutered, vaccinated, and ear tipped. After recovery, the cats are returned to their outdoor home.
TNR stops the breeding cycle of feral cats. Feral cats, just like pet cats, are members of the domestic cat species, but they are not adoptable. The term "feral" means that the cats are not socialized to people and generally avoid contact with humans.
How are we helping? Columbia Animal Clinic is hosting a Trap/Neuter/Return clinic on April 16th. We will be performing a spay/neuter, rabies vaccination ($31 value), ear-tipping (this is mandatory), and parasite control treatment (up to a $34 value) on each cat scheduled this day. If you are interested in scheduling a cat for surgery this day, please call (517) 592-6924.
The cost for the program will be $55 to spay the females, and $38 to neuter the males. This program is not for pet cats, only feral/barn cats that are not socialized to humans. Each cat will need to be in its own carrier or live trap. One cat per carrier, no soft sided zip up carriers or cardboard boxes. WE WILL NOT ACCEPT CATS if they are not in appropriate carrier/trap. Cats in broken carriers that are found during the presurgical exam and deemed unsafe by the veterinarian will not be spayed/neutered & will forfeit $20 of their surgical fee.
