Description
Pruning Workshop Series. This three-part hands-on workshop will teach and demonstrate the methods of pruning shrubs and small trees for deciduous, coniferous, and evergreen plants. Participants will obtain knowledge of (1) the different styles of pruning, (2) the different types of pruning cuts, (3) the various tools for pruning, (4) the physiological impact pruning has on plants, (5) the importance of timing for pruning, and (6) the importance of preparation before pruning. Cost: $23 per person per workshop / $20 Friends of HLG per workshop. Register for the entire series and receive a $10 discount off of the total registration cost ($59 per person / $50 Friends of HLG). Registration is required, space is limited. Workshop 1: Dormant Season Pruning. Following an indoor introduction to pruning, participants will move outdoors to evaluate and prune plants at Hidden Lake Gardens. Roses, clematis, red-twig dogwood, hydrangea, and other shrubs and small trees will be covered. Please bring a pair of hand pruners and work gloves to class and dress for the weather.
